Version 0.4 Pre-alpha Release Patch Notes

See the full patch notes for this update here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1649500/view/5680722896198302400

Sleeping Bag:
As per player feedback, I have added a single-use sleeping bag (It will despawn after waking up from sleeping on it).

Vendor System:
Players can now trade with Draupnir.
He sells:

  • Sleeping bag crafting recipe
  • Basic Tap (sprinkler) crafting recipe
  • Stones
  • Wood

You can sell him any non-tool items, although he will only give you money for the following:

  • Wood
  • Stone
  • Bronze Ore
  • Silver Ore
  • Gold Ore
  • Obsidian Ore

Rain Request via the Summoning Stone:
Players can now make a sacrifice to Thunor and request rain to water their crops. Now that items have a value via the vendor system, the value of the full stack of sacrificed items must be greater than or equal to 150 (e.g. 22 Raspberries).

New 3D Models:
Up until this point, the 3d models for the tools were entirely placeholder but now I have gone in and replaced each of them with custom 3d models.
I recorded the process of texturing and modelling the hand axe, the video for which can be seen below:

And the rest you can see in-game!

New Crops:
Version 0.4 includes 3 new crop types (as of now, they can only be got via console commands but they, amongst many others, will be added into the vendor system eventually).

  • Carrots
  • Brussel Sprouts
  • Grass Seeds

Clothing System:
When starting a new world, players will be given starter clothes, which they can remove/swap via the inventory:

  • Peasant's Tunic
  • Leather Trousers

(As of 0.4, these are the only two clothing items in the game)

New Sky:
I had been wanting to update Sundermead's atmospheric scattering solution (the skybox) to one that was more visually pleasing for a while but I couldn't find one that matched the performance of what I had already had. This was until I stumbled across "Minimal Atmosphere" by Felix Westin. The best part was that it was pre-written for Unity, so I basically just had to drag and drop it into the project!

Night Sky:
There was one issue with this new sky model though, the night sky was totally black! My solution was simply to project the Milky Way onto the night sky which, in my opinion, looks incredible!

Clouds & Auroras
Since I was already on a roll with adding new features to the sky, I decided that now would be a great time to implement clouds and auroras into the game. These are only really visual but they certainly added atmosphere!

Thank you all very much for reading, I hope it wasn't too much of a slog and thank you all for your support!
